Dumbwaiter

A dumbwaiter efficiently transports smaller material between different levels. It is a versatile product used primarily in restaurants, stores, hospitals, laboratories, libraries, offices, warehouses etc. We provide dumbwaiters meeting CSA B44 code that cater to all suitable requirements. Solutions for more complex industrial or institutional applications involving dust proof, flameproof and explosion proof installations can also be provided.

Advantages of Dumbwaiters: features mentioned below makes dumbwaiter a value solution for projects requiring vertical transportation of small goods with provision of automatic control.

1. Requires less shaft as compared to a freight elevator or a material lift.
2. Dumbwaiter machine can be fully enclosed and located inside the top or at the bottom of the hoistway shaft.
3. Floor loading and/ or counter height loading allows flexible loading height of the goods  
4. No pit depth and/ or minimal required pit depth options are available
5. Automatic door operation like freight elevators
6. Ideal for retrofit applications (in schools, churches, medical offices etc.) due to easy civil construction.

Standard Product Features with Available Options are:

1. Load Capacity: ranges from 90 Kg to 227 Kg (200 lb to 500 lb)

1. Speed: 0.15 m/sec (30 fpm)
2. Travel: for about 12 m (39’ – 4”) travel gear motor or winding drum machines are available. For travel beyond 12 m (39’ – 4”), overhead traction machine is recommended.
3. Pit Depth: 200 mm (8”) for floor loading and no pit depth required for counter height loading dumbwaiter.
4. Overhead Height: typical 2743 mm (108”), however depends upon the dumbwaiter car & entrance height and also if it is floor loading or counter height loading. Please contact our sales department for job specific design proposal.
5. Car Area: maximum 1 meter square (36” wide x 36” deep)
6. Cab finishes:
   • Steel prime finish
   • Optional 304 St. Steel or 316 St steel
   • Other options may be available upon request.
7. Entrances:
   • Entrances: vertical bi-parting doors
   • Optional vertical slide-up entrance or swing entrance
   • Provided in prime/ powder coated finish
   • Optional #4 St. Steel entrances
   • Georgian wire glass panel
   • 1.5 Hour fire rated doors
   • Illuminated floor buttons with optional key override switches on all landings
   • Other finishes may be available on request.
8. Automatic call & send operation

Machine area details:

1. Machine located inside the shaft either at the top or at bottom at pit level
2. Access door to swing out
3. Provided with required electrical fused disconnect boxes, guarded light with a switch, GFCI Plug.
4. Machine room to be constructed as per elevator code and building code
